Help for Self‑Help in Eritrea

Who We Are?

The Eritrean Association for Physically Disabled People in Stuttgart e.V. was founded on January 20, 2001, during its founding general meeting. Since then, we have been operating as a registered non-profit association (VR 241456 at the Stuttgart District Court) – driven by voluntary commitment and the firm belief that every person has the right to a self-determined life.

Our Goal

The core purpose of our association is to support physically disabled people in Eritrea in achieving an independent, self-determined life. We aim not only to provide short-term aid, but to create lasting prospects through guidance, training, and sustainable support.

How We Achieve This Goal

Together with our long-standing and trusted partner association ENWDVA (Eritrean National War-disabled Veterans Association) in Eritrea, we implement concrete projects:

  • We provide material goods (e.g. bicycles, donkeys with carts, fitness equipment, medications)
  • We enable microcredits along with the necessary training (e.g. as bicycle mechanics, beekeepers, or in other skilled trades)
  • We guide people toward self-reliance – and we don’t stop there: We continue to accompany and support them even after they have become independent

Our approach is always “help for self-help”: We don’t just hand people something – we help them turn it into something of their own. This creates real opportunities for a life with dignity, pride, and a future.
